 - She is the “house matriarch.” 

 - A long piece of thread that wraps around Ilde and his offspring. 

 - Carmen was not Mar’s birth mother but was something that she is still seeking to name. 

 - Carmen has moved all of Mar’s possessions into the garden casita. and wishes the family could "just move on." 

 - When Leo and Delfi arrive on the morning of the hurricane, Carmen does everything she can to keep the family from exploding into WWIII. 

 - Carmen puts the needs of the entire family before her own, but at what price?
